It is wise, however, not to rely on just any touch sensitive faucet out there. There are cheap faucets without even name or brand that offer you a bunch of advanced features. If you buy one of them, it's a gamble. In my opinion, the safest way to go is finding a brand whose touch sensitive faucets have proved to be reliable. The information available online can help a lot. User ratings, comments and reviews can give you a better idea about the quality.
But do these fears have substance? Haven't the engineers and designers of the best touch sensitive kitchen faucets anticipated these situations? Do we still have to deny ourselves the liberating feeling of operation with a touch and choose a more basic faucet only because we are not sure it will live up to the expectations?
Situations of this kind are extremely unlikely to happen. But even if they do once in a while, a good faucet has a built-in system that turns the water off automatically after a certain period of inactivity. It is usually configured somewhere between 3 and 5 minutes. So even if the faucet gets turned on by some unusual circumstance, the loss from that will be rather insignificant.
One-Piece Faucets, Some sinks only have a single hole. If this is the case, the faucet you will need is a single handle faucet. This type only requires one hole for the spout and handle. (If you want to add a sprayer this will require an extra hole.) Faucet with Three Pieces, If your sink is one of the older types with three holes your faucet is probably a two handle. With one hole for the hot water, one for the cold and one for the spout there may be an extra one if a sprayer is present. Kitchen sinks of some types have combined soap dischargers and sprayers which shows how important it is to make sure of the number of holes.
