Hertfordshire engagement photography in the rain / Belinda and Matt

Belinda and Matt are having what sounds like a delightful intimate wedding with only their closest family and friends next month. So we met a couple of weeks ago for their engagement shoot in an area close to where they live. But as we pulled into the car park, the heavens opened and we had a torrential downpour! But with every cloud there is a silver lining, or as in this case, the wonderful dramatic sky when the rain finished.

Picnic engagement shoot, Scotland / Jo and Chris

I love my job so much. Everyday you can be doing something completely different. Last week I was shooting a couple’s romance in the City of London, and this week I was up in the Scottish countryside with Jo and Chris, a fun and relaxed couple who are getting married in August. Jo is really artistic (she has home-made their gorgeous wedding invites and is going to be getting her sewing machine out for the table runners too!) Because of this, she wants to get the most out of their photography as possible (and Chris doesn’t seem to mind either!) I love it when photography is a high priority for my couples. So for Jo and Chris’ engagement shoot, we opted for a picnic in the Scottish countryside. And it only drizzled a little. Quite a miracle for spring in Scotland!

Engagement shoot along the South Bank / Harriet and Dave

Harriet and Dave both work in the City of London so I was very excited when they said that it would be cool to use some of the great London landmarks as a backdrop for their engagement shoot. So last week we took a walk along the Thames starting at South Bank. The forecast was for it to rain, but someone was definitely looking down kindly on us, as not only did it stay dry all evening, but as the sun began to set the clouds even started clearing.

I can’t wait to photograph Harriet and Dave’s wedding in July. Judging by how photogenic this couple are, they are going to have an amazing album!

Engagement shoot with pet dogs / Poppy and Mark

I met Poppy and Mark last summer when I was photographing Mark’s brother’s wedding. It is the biggest compliment when friends and family of a wedding couple book you for their wedding too, and that’s just what Poppy and Mark did. It was lovely to catch up with them both again and get to know them a bit better.

We met last weekend at Poppy’s parents’ home in Oxfordshire, where their marquee wedding will take place in July. The weather was beautiful and their two black labradors, who had come along too, had great fun bounding around the garden and joining in.

I can’t wait for their wedding, I know it will be a lot of fun!

Engagement shoot / Janice and Andy

I can’t wait until Janice and Andy’s wedding in June this year. We met last weekend to go through all the details and timings of their wedding and also for their engagement shoot. After meeting in a cafe for tea (but no cake!) we headed over to a field just outside Weston in Hertfordshire where they’ll be having their marquee reception. The spring light was glorious and it gave such a warm summery feel the images, who would have believed that we weren’t in California instead?

Janice and Andy are such a great couple and look lovely together. And Janice was wearing a T-shirt with a gorgeous vintage campervan on it, just like the one they’ll be having on their wedding day. I can’t wait!

Liam is such an adorable little boy with his big brown eyes and lusciously long lashes. He’s also a champion roller – one minute on his back, then on his front, rolling and rolling, it was difficult to keep up with him! Here’s a sneak peek of a couple of my favourites.

I was so excited when Linda and Gary asked if I could photograph them to celebrate Valentine’s day. The temperature may have been below freezing in Malmö, Sweden, but they were very enthusiastic when I suggested doing a shoot in the snow with a Valentine’s theme. I love so many of the images from this shoot that it was really difficult just choosing a few of my favourites, so I’ve included more than I usually do on this post. Enjoy!

We had such a great time so we left the paper hearts hanging in the tree so other couples walking past would find and could create their own little moment. Or to bring a smile to the face of dreamers.

Linda and Gary are a fantastic couple, and it’s so obvious that they are very much in love. ♥ Happy Valentine’s Day! ♥
