About Tamara Kuzminski
I never knew what I wanted to be when I grew up. Photography was always a hobby, and my mum proudly tells everyone how she saw the potential in me at an early age as she hoped I wouldn’t become a photographer (I think she was worried about all the film they would have to pay for). Fortunately for her, it never occurred to me that I could be a photographer for a living so I continued only photographing the landscape at the weekends. Until one day when I photographed my friend’s wedding. Suddenly I realised that I could live my life doing what I loved. But as I photographed more and more weddings, I photographed less and less of the landscape, until events conspired to make me aware that I needed to get balance back in my life. So I announced my wedding photography sabbatical for 2013, to give me time to get back into the landscape, back to my first love, to my escape and release. Where I can forget about the rest of the world and yet become one with it at the same time.
Making the world a better place
People say you are a fool if you think that you can change the world. I believe that the fools are the ones who never try. I hope that people can connect and find their own truth or beauty within my images. But I also have a dream that one day I can use my photography to bring attention to the environmental concerns that we have created on our planet. I plan to change the world a little at a time, one person at a time, one image at a time. If one of my photographs makes someone think differently about the world and their impact on it, if it gives them the encouragement to do something themself, then that is my “remarkable”. My legacy to the world.
